Woodland
Hills, Calif., March 8, 2000 Vertel® (NASDAQ: VRTL), a
leading provider of mediation software for telecommunications
networks, and New Era of Networks Inc. (Nasdaq:NEON), a leading
e-Business infrastructure platform provider, today announced that
they will partner to deliver e-Business integration solutions for
the telecommunications industry.
Under the terms of the partnership, the two companies will combine
their products and expertise -- the Vertel protocol mediation

integrate telecommunications applications, including
transaction-based billing. The companies will also deliver an
intelligent network infrastructure for global communications
companies and ASPs.
"NEON's expertise in e-Business integration fits
hand-in-glove with Vertel's expertise in protocol mediation,"
stated Alan Ehrlich, director of product management for Vertel.
"Together, we will provide effective solutions to address the
interconnection and infrastructure needs of our global carrier
customer-base."
Using Vertel expertise in network management and its CORBA e*ORB
middleware, and NEON's products, the companies will deliver a
solution that extends from the network through the higher-level
business applications.
"By incorporating Vertel's core knowledge of
telecommunications networking and carrier-grade products into our
platform, we will satisfy the need for flexible, robust mediation
systems for the marketplace," said Fred Thompson, vice
president of communications industry marketing and business
development for NEON. "The partnership between NEON and
Vertel capitalizes on the domain expertise of both companies to
provide comprehensive e-Business integration for
telecommunications and network service providers."
