Vertel e*ORB Software Purchased for Final Evaluation by Korea's Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute

Woodland Hills, Calif., June 22, 2000 – Vertel® (NASDAQ: VRTL), a leading provider of mediation software for telecommunications networks, today announced that Korea's Electronic and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) purchased the industry leading Vertel e*ORB core technology as well as e*ORB Naming Service and Notification Service.
ETRI will perform a final evaluation comparing the performance of the e*ORB software to that of other technology options. If ETRI selects e*ORB, it will recommend that all the local switch manufacturers in Korea adopt the technology for deployment in their next generation wireless and wireline switching development.
e*ORB software, the telecommunications industry's first CORBA-based technology designed with telecom-grade reliability, high- performance, small form factor and platform independence, was selected as a leading candidate by ETRI.
"We are very interested in the high-performance and small size of e*ORB," said Dr. D. Lee, executive director. "In addition, the pre-sales support which included on-site demonstrations of the product were especially helpful in making the decision to evaluate e*ORB."
"Vertel is very pleased that ETRI has included e*ORB in their final evaluation. We consider an endorsement from ETRI to be high praise for our product features and benefits," said Vertel Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Bruce W. Brown. "We have had a long-standing and valued relationship with ETRI that we look forward to continuing," Brown added.
