Vertel Names Toni Graham Vice President Research and Development and Professional Services Unit

Woodland Hills, Calif., June 29, 2000 – Vertel® (NASDAQ: VRTL), a leading provider of mediation software for telecommunications networks, today announced the appointment of Toni Graham to the position of Vice President Research & Development and Professional Services Unit. In this capacity, Graham will oversee all research and development for the company and will also supervise the Professional Services Team. Graham is assuming the position that was recently vacated by Cyrus Irani upon his appointment to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer for Vertel. She will report directly to Irani and will be a member of the Vertel management team.
Graham brings over 20 years of experience in technical development and management to Vertel. Previously, she held a variety of network/telecommunications development and management positions at Hewlett-Packard, including worldwide R&D manager for software licenses of TMN element management and CORBA-based network management products, as well as customized solutions for telecom service providers. In more than 20 years with HP, she managed several businesses within the company that ranged in scope from $3M to $15M in annual revenue and was directly accountable for all aspects of those businesses including Marketing, R&D and Manufacturing. She has experience with both small local teams and large distributed teams.

Graham earned her Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering at California State Polytechnic University in Pomona and her Masters of Science in Computer Sciences from California State University at Chico. Additionally, she was selected to participate in the Stanford Alumnus Business Management Program. She also served for four years on the Board of Trustees of the Telecommunications Forum where she held an officer position for the last two years.
