Woodland
Hills, Calif., July 19, 2000 Vertel® (NASDAQ: VRTL),
a leading provider of mediation software for telecommunications networks, today announced the availability of new e*ORB CORBAServices software packages: Telecom Logging and Interoperable Naming. These packages augment the e*ORB technology and enable developers of network management and network equipment software to reduce development time by using off-the-shelf, industrial-grade software components rather than coding these functions themselves.
Carrier-grade telecom network software generates high volumes of operating statistics that must be logged for downstream monitoring and analysis. These statistics provide vital information that is essential for helping network engineers operate networks at peak performance. Telecom Logging Service is standards-based software that performs these functions for the developers.
Interoperable Naming Service allows CORBA developers to refer to the software objects in their applications by an Internet style (URL) naming convention. Prior to the recent development of industry standards in this area, CORBA software vendors implemented inconsistent object naming conventions that resulted in incompatibilities between vendor products. With the standards-based Interoperable Naming Service, these incompatibilities are eliminated.
"Along with our Notification Service, the launch of these new e*ORB CORBAServices enhances our e*ORB product offering and allows us to continue with our mission to be the leading provider of carrier-grade convergent network software to the Broadband and Wireless infrastructure," said Cyrus Irani, President and Chief Executive Officer of Vertel. "These new services will offer telecom software developers the tools they need to significantly reduce the development cycle."
