These solutions shorten the time to market for intelligent access devices, such as Digital Loop Carriers (DLC’s), and for new services such as ADSL broadband access, providing significant benefit to both telecom equipment manufacturers and service providers. Network operators deploying these technologies will also benefit from easier end-to-end service assurance and provisioning over multi-vendor equipment, especially of unbundled local loop access, which is key to meeting regulatory requirements in the U.S. market.
Vertel and OpenCon Systems (OCS) also today announced their intention to jointly develop, market and sell TMNAccess 303. Vertel previously announced at SuperComm ’98 a joint development, marketing and sales partnership with Hughes Software Systems (HSS) to deliver TMNAccess V5. Both products will be available by the end of March. Vertel will collaborate with OCS and HSS to build mediation and element management applications using Vertel’s industry leading TMNTelecore development platform. Professional services for implementation and integration are a key component of the solutions offering.
“Vertel strengthens its position in the TMN market with the introduction
of these products for intelligent access devices and services, one of the
industry’s fastest growing sectors,” said Bruce Brown, president and chief
executive officer of Vertel. “By partnering with industry leaders
like OCS and HSS for the core GR-303 and V5 engines, and bundling them
with management applications and services, we can provide a better solution
to a broader market.”
“OpenCon Systems has been in the GR-303 solutions business from its inception,” said Jonathan Ma, OpenCon Systems’ president and chief executive officer. “We offer a unique value proposition to our customers: true end to end, turn-key GR-303 solutions. Working with Vertel provides us a synergistic partner for technology and market access, and together, we will set the highest standards for quality and customer service in this market.” Vertel and OpenCon Systems have collaborated successfully in the Electronic Bonding solutions market for more than two years.
Hughes Software Systems is a global supplier of communications, AIN based call processing and management applications. HSS has a proven track record deploying mission critical systems for telecom equipment manufacturers and network operators worldwide and is an industry leader in deployment of V5 solutions.
“Our strategy is to focus on intelligent service delivery
and network service management,” said Arun Kumar, president of Hughes Software
Systems. “Our solutions for Advanced Intelligent Networks, billing
mediation and network management are based on industry standards. Further
these solutions utilize open standards based software and hardware, allowing
for seamless integration with multi-vendor networks and operations support
systems. Vertel provides a comprehensive development environment
critical to helping us meet the interoperability requirements of this rapidly
expanding global market.”
“More than 50% of the access line build out underway today
in the U.S. is serviced by DLC’s, and this trend is extending to international
markets,” Brown said. “This reflects the explosive growth of the
Internet and the need for high speed access to a multitude of new commercially
hosted voice and data services on public IP networks. Vertel’s
management solutions provide key elements of the operations support systems
infrastructure required for the carrier-grade quality of service expected
of public IP network operators.”
Vertel’s TMNTelecore Management Development Environment and Agent/Manager Simulators are used to create comprehensive interoperability testing capabilities. TMNAccess 303 is carefully designed to resolve local loop unbundling issues faced by network operators and service providers in today’s deregulated market.
TMN Access V5
The TMNAccess V5 a joint product from Vertel and HSS
provides integrated signaling, call processing and management capabilities
for the HSS’s V5 and VB5 access stacks. The product enables out of the
box configuration, fault and test management for a V5 interface and is
designed to conform to international standards. HSS brings extensive experience
in the development and deployment of V5 solutions in the international
market. Vertel brings extensive experience in the development and deployment
of V5 solutions through their involvement in the Chinese, Korean and South
African access network build-outs. The knowledge gained by both HSS
and Vertel from these programs will ensure that TMNAccess V5 meets the
stringent demands of international operators. The product suite enables
telecom equipment manufacturers to implement, test, integrate and deploy
a new V5 interface on their network devices with minimum risk. TMNAccess
V5 also exports a CORBA-based IDL interface for craft terminal application
development and integration into access management solutions.
TMNTelecore Access Management
Solutions
Using industry standard components, Vertel and their
partners will leverage their strengths in V5 and 303 signaling, ADSL, and
management systems design and development to bid turn-key element management
applications primarily targeted at the access device manufacturer market.
Mediation solutions will be targeted at a broader telecom equipment manufacturer
and service provider market. These solutions will be based on the
TMNTelecore products, support multiple management technologies, and use
off-the-shelf JAVA-based graphical user interface tools.
Upon completion, all applications are maintainable by
the customer and new features are easily added using the standard development
components. Default applications, such as fault management and provisioning,
are readily available and easily tailored for individual customer requirements.
