The acquisition of Expersoft adds standards-based, high performance CORBA technology to Vertel’s portfolio of network management solutions for the telecommunications market. Vertel intends to leverage this advanced object distribution technology, designed by Expersoft specifically for carrier-grade telecommunications applications, to extend its market focus to multi-management solutions. With its expanded product suite, Vertel will be able to offer integrated solutions across all TMN levels, including embedded technology, where Expersoft’s highly optimized technologies will provide new options for intelligent agents, providing timely and cost effective interoperability features for network elements and element management systems.
“The merger with Expersoft strengthens Vertel as a multi-management technology company,” said Bruce Brown, president and CEO of Vertel. “Integrating this highly optimized object distribution technology into our application development products will set new standards for telecom network management and afford our customers the most robust, reliable and flexible management solutions on the market today.”
“Joining forces with Vertel is a winning strategy for both companies,” said Bill Atkinson, CEO of Expersoft. “Standards-based, distributed object computing architectures are becoming the predominant management technology to achieve OSS automation and integration. The combination of Expersoft's carrier-grade CORBA technology and Vertel's telecom management solutions expertise will be a strong combination in the market."
Expersoft’s carrier grade CORBA solutions were developed in conjunction with an industry leader in public IP telecommunications networks and services. By adding Expersoft’s products and customers to their portfolio, Vertel will now have greater access to the rapidly emerging IP telecommunications market and play a pivotal role in managing the connection between the enterprise and public IP telecom infrastructures. The new platform also extends Vertel’s interoperability infrastructure for entry into IP telecom provisioning.
“Of the many distributed object management platforms available today, Expersoft is unique in that it has a CORBA implementation designed specifically for the telecommunications domain,” said Brown. “Expersoft offers reliable, scalable, customizable, performance critical solutions that can meet the stringent requirements of today’s carrier grade operations support systems.”
A fundamental strength of Expersoft’s product architecture is plug and play support for transport protocols and message formats. The result is an ideal mechanism for integrating the many communications technologies and object models used in a telecommunications environment, including Microsoft's DCOM, ATM, CMIP, IIOP, and others. Expersoft's platform also supports popular programming languages. The essence of multi-management solutions is support for this kind of diversity in a robust and scalable environment.
“Having a protocol-independent platform is critical to the continued success of our partnerships with major software developers, such as Microsoft,” said Brown. “With Expersoft, we feel we have a forward thinking solution set that will offer maximum performance and flexibility for carrier grade object management across several platforms.”
