Vertel Appoints Tom Greene
as Vice President of Engineering
Software Development Veteran Joins Vertel
Management Team to Drive Strategy, Vision and Leadership as a Solutions
Provider for Telecommunications Network Management
Woodland Hills, CA, April 21, 1999 – Vertel® (NASDAQ:VRTL),
a leading provider of multi-management solutions for telecommunications
networks, today announced the appointment of Tom Greene, of the recently
acquired Expersoft Corp., to vice president of engineering. In this
capacity, Mr. Greene will oversee all research and development of the combined
companies. Greene will be a member of Vertel’s executive management
team and will report directly to President and CEO Bruce Brown. Mr.
Greene is replacing Fred Rampey, who is returning to Colorado to pursue
new opportunities.

Mr. Greene’s appointment is part of Vertel’s broader strategic vision
of moving from development tools to complete solutions for network and
service management that make customers more competitive. Vertel already
possesses expertise in standards-based management technologies such as
CMIP, TL1, SNMP and most recently, CORBA. In addition, Vertel will
maximize its existing platforms as it continues to develop innovative,
leading-edge OSS solutions for element management, network management,
mediation and other advanced applications that focus on managing carrier
grade IP networks and services.

Mr. Greene brings nearly 20 years of experience in commercial software
development and 13 years of experience in a variety of engineering management
roles to Vertel. During the past 10 years, Mr. Greene has been focused
on the development of software tools such as structured and object modeling
tools, application generation and object-oriented middleware. Most
recently, Mr. Greene lead Expersoft in the development of its innovative,
new generation of high-performance CORBA technology specifically designed
for embedded and telecommunications applications. Prior to joining
Vertel and Expersoft, Mr. Greene served in a variety of engineering management
capacities at Cadre Technologies and Prime Computer, Inc.
