Vertel  Names Richard Hamilton VP of new Global Service and Support Organization

TMN solutions leader offers new dimension and value to customers.

Woodland Hills, CA, January 25, 1999 – Vertel® (NASDAQ:VRTL), a leading supplier of telecommunications network software, today announced the appointment of Richard L. Hamilton to the newly created position of vice president of customer service.  Hamilton, a 25-year veteran in telecommunications and network support management, will focus on developing a new global service and support infrastructure to meet and exceed the service requirements of Vertel’s expanding customer base. Hamilton will report directly to Bruce Brown, president and CEO.

Hamilton brings over 25 years experience in telecommunications and network support management to Vertel.  He will play a key role in coordinating the company’s technical support and field service operations worldwide.  His expertise in management, business planning, professional services, field and support operations will allow Vertel to offer consistent, integrated technical support to its customers across multiple geographies.  Hamilton will also concentrate on developing strategic service solutions for Vertel’s customers in emerging telecommunications markets.  “Dick Hamilton’s organization will add new dimension to the value we bring to our customers,” said Brown.

Prior to joining Vertel, Hamilton served as Vice President; Support Services for Xantel Corp., a company developing priority call management products in the computer telephony integration industry.  Hamilton also has extensive enterprise experience, holding senior positions in enterprise equipment manufacturing companies such as Ungermann Bass, McData Corp., ITT Servcom/ITT Courier Terminal Systems, Periphonics Corporation and Saunders Data Systems Inc.
