Vertel Appoints Howard Oringer to Board of Directors

Woodland Hills, CA, February 12, 1999 – Vertel^® (NASDAQ:VRTL), a leading supplier of telecommunications network software, today announced the appointment of Howard Oringer to its board of directors. Mr. Oringer has over 30 years of operating management experience in the telecommunications industry, with emphasis on the planning and implementation of major communications networks. His background includes executive positions with AT&T, Pacific Telephone, Rockwell International, California Microwave, and TeleSciences.
