NGOSS is TeleManagement Forum (TMForum www.tmforum.org) initiative, started in 1999, and is now a widely supported new architecture for operation support systems.
M*Ware is developed conform the guidelines of NGOSS and is a real enabler of NGOSS support infrastructures.

M*Ware applications and M*Ware Partner solutions are fully component-based applications, with collaborating dedicated business application and specialized M*Ware integration technology components.
The basic M*Ware platform delivers the services of the Business Service Support block, and interfaces to diverse networks southbound.
All key NGOSS criteria are fulfilled:
-
Distribution
-
Separate components
-
An independent workflow
-
The use of a common information model (in M*Ware, the CIM is in line with DMTF
CIM)
-
The support of M.3400-compliant management functions (M*Ware supports the
Service Assurance processes of the TMForum TOM)

Northbound, towards the business application components, M*Ware supports a wide variety of native application interfaces.
Internally, M*Ware uses a ubiquitous bus, based on CORBA. M*Ware applications such as M*Ware Convergent Manager and M*Ware Exchange, provide plug-and-play application services on top of the basic M*Ware platform
The advantages of M*Ware are evident for anyone who is familiar with NG OSS:
-
M*Ware provides a single interface into networks.
-
The consolidated network data layer makes it easy to add applications and networks to an existing
infrastructure.
-
It will be very easy to combine NG-OSS compliant applications and legacy applications
-
Large portions of the M*Ware integration software can always be reused.
-
Data consistency between applications is improved.
